“With respect for the tradition and the terroir, we create modern wines with a taste of Vipava Valley.”
Štokelj Wine Estate is placed in the midst of southern hills that surround Vipava Valley in small village Planina. Planina is known to be one of the best locations for winegrowing. Especially autochthonous varieties are adapted to special growing conditions of the Vipava steep marlstone hillsides. We have always paid special attention to native pinela, because we have recognized the great value, which we want to preserve as heritage for future generations.
In locations where the soil is richer, merlot and barbera are planted. From younger vineyards of merlot we make excellent rose. From the older vineyard of merlot and barbera we produce Planta, which is a rich red blend, matured in wooden barrels. On the marl soil we also have Rebula, known as the most common white variety in the Vipava region from which different styles of wine are made; fresh Rebula, matured Rebula called Planta White and Sweet Rebula – Ambrosia which is made from carefully selected grapes of rebula, that have been drying on the Vipava bora for several months.
